Women's Economic Rights
In ancient China, they promoted the thought of stay at home women. However, during the Maoist period, gender equality was ordered by the state, women could hold leadership positions just as men did. After the death of Maoist, China went back to its old ways and women were no longer equal to men. The rights of women today are unclear, not protected nor promoted. During these economic times women are no longer allowed to purchase land. If a woman is lucky to be able to buy land it is known that it will be very bad quality in an undesirable area.
Women in China are also being denied their right to work because of gender discrimination. The workforce in China is mainly based off of economics and less government. Married women are the most affected because of leaving jobs for domestic duties or layoffs based on the discrimination of women by the employer.
